  • The WD My Cloud EX4 offers data redundancy, Windows Server integration, and an excellent set of personal cloud features. It's also affordable and very easy to use
  • The server's write speed is disappointing. The mobile app supports a limited number of file formats, there's no search function, and it won't allow you to sort by content type
  • It's not the fastest NAS, nor does it include many advanced features, but the WD My Cloud EX4 still combines great ease of use into an affordable personal cloud system that's excellent for a connected home.

  • Strong feature set, Ten PC client backup licenses, Power and ethernet failover, DLNA server and iTunes support
  • Very slow read/write performance, No provision for folder syncing, No locks on drive trays
  • The My Cloud EX4 has all the features you want in a four-bay NAS and is priced right, provided that you accept its performance deficiencies....

  • When it comes to power consumption the WD My Cloud EX4 8TB isn't too bad. We found that it uses around 15 Watts at idle when power saver mode is enabled. When the drives come out of their low power state they spike up to ~50 Watts during the few seconds i...

  • Resumen:  Last month, we took a look at the first product in WD's My Cloud lineup. In our review, this editor found the device approachable, not only for those whom aren't overly technical, but also for those on a budget. The 2TB version that we looked at had an MS...

  • Compact, efficient, silent design, Highly flexible configuration interface, Extremely simple drive replacement, Great out of the box / setup experience
  • Throughput speeds were less than stellar, Final Thoughts, Overall, I am impressed with the Western Digital My Cloud EX4. As a storage product, it offers many storage options at a very reasonable cost, as well as a plethora of way to access that storage

  • Well built Lots of storage options Ultrareliable Quiet Easy to get going
  • Very few apps available Mobile access could be better Average speeds Flaky software
  • Disappointingly, the use of the 'Cloud' buzzword on WD's My Cloud EX4 is a bit of a misnomer. Yes, it lets you access your files from afar, but you're going through WD's own servers - so it's technically their cloud and not yours. It's also not all that d...

  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, Dual USB 3.0 ports, Toolless, caddyless drive bays
  • The cloud feature didn't work properly for us all the time, WD doesn't have much in the way of support when connections need troubleshooting
  • WD's My Cloud EX4 is a network attached storage device that offers good features and build quality for a small office or home office environment, and it's quite easy to use. However, it took us a few goes before the cloud feature worked for us...
