My first glance at the Acer Aspire S7 Ultrabook had me thinking “eww… white… no, that's not me”. Further examination reveals a better Ultrabook than I gave it credit for; there's probably an platitude about judging Ultrabooks by their cover in there somew...
It's really refreshing to come to the end of this review and be able to say that I would buy this computer for personal use. Well, if it wasn't so expensive, I would. The price is just a bit hard to swallow. Acer has the machine available for $1649.99...

Beautiful design. Monitor increases resistance as you open it farther, minimising screen wobble from touching. Full HD IPS screen. Dual SSDs in RAID 0 bring plenty of speed
Expensive. Battery life could be better. Backlit keyboard makes the keys harder to read in half-light. Can get loud under load
The 13.3-inch version of Acer's Aspire S7 laptop is gorgeous. There are a few minor niggles, it's expensive and battery life isn't the best, but despite all this, this is one of the better Windows 8 solutions out there at this point in time....
Aluminium chassis is solid and comfy on the palms; Beautiful IPS touchscreen; Despite being shallow, the keyboard is comfortable to use; Speedy and responsive;
No obvious Caps Lock indicator; Cover glass gets grubby quickly; Backlighting isn't very bright; While the touchscreen gestures are excellent, the trackpad ones are not; Battery life could be better;
For the first Windows 8 machine we've seen, and Acer's first attempt at a machine for the operating system, the company has done a bloody impressive job with the Aspire S7, producing a machine that not only checks a lot of boxes, but damn near nails them...
Excellent screen, Lovely design, Strongly built, Very fast SSD
Shallow keys, Touchpad could be a little better, Battery life a little short
Thin and light construction, along with a clean design and an excellent touchscreen should make the Aspire S7 a popular choice among users who are after a premium Windows 8 Ultrabook. Its keys could use more travel, the touchpad could be a little more sol...
