  • The Asus VivoTab Smart ME400 is as inexpensive as Atom Windows 8 tablets get, and the add-on keyboard/touch-pad combo is excellent.
  • The keyboard doesn't actually attach, which can be a hassle, and the folding magnetic cover takes practice to set up properly.
  • In a sea of hard-to-distinguish Atom-powered Windows 8 tablets, the Asus VivoBook Smart ME400 stands out a bit thanks to clever accessories.

  • Relatively cheap. Multiple colors available. Windows 8. Decent battery life.
  • Cheap plastic construction. Wimpy speakers. Limited port selection requires adapters for usability. Accessories, like cover and keyboard, not yet available
  • The Asus VivoTab Smart ME400C is aimed at the budget shopper who wants a full Windows 8 slate tablet, but it won't replace your laptop....

  • Full Windows 8 experience, Lightweight and portable, Good battery life
  • Atom processor and 2GB of RAM holds performance back, Only 25GB of free internal storage
  • With the Asus VivoTab Smart currently priced at $499, it’s a compelling option for those looking for a moderately-sized tablet running the full Windows 8 platform without breaking the bank. But when adding on the $150 TranSleeve Keyboard option, you’r...

  • Plastic design, Desktop apps can be slow to open, Lacks full-size USB port, Keyboard and cover not lap friendly

  • Bright, viewing angle stable and high-contrast screen, Good touch features with reliable feedback, Good battery life, Far-reaching Windows compatibility
  • Fiddly micro interfaces, Hardware button with moderate feedback, Partly outdated performance for Windows 8
  • Asus VivoTab SmartAsus' VivoTab Smart is configured with a full version of Windows 8 and a decent selection of interfaces. On the one hand, that theoretically leads to unrestricted compatibility with the Windows world but on the other, the hardware requir...

  • Resumen:  ASUS is well renowned for its Android-based Transformer series of tablets and the company appears to be using the same formula for upcoming Windows 8 RT devices. The ASUS Vivo Tab RT comes bundled with a keyboard dock that includes a built-in battery, eff...

  • Excellent general specs, 8MP camera, full Windows 8
  • Processor slow, Ports problematic, Could be brighter
  • So the main question - should you buy the Asus VivoTab ME400? Well we do love it. In fact, we'd certainly go as far as to say this is the best Windows 8 tablet we've yet seen in terms of power efficiency and capability. But we do have reservations over th...

  • Runs proper Windows 8, not that RT thing; Relatively inexpensive for a Windows 8 tablet; Charges over microUSB;
  • Keyboard doesn't really attach at the hinge; Takes more effort to set this tablet up as a notebook replacement compared with other tablet keyboard cases out there; Lacks the same hinge design as the Transformer range, so you can't plug it into a keyboard-
  • It's not the best option out there, but if you need the power of Windows 8 and want a touchscreen, the $600 price tag makes this an interesting choice. We're not sure if it's as good a value as say the $500 netbook-replacement touchscreen Asus we reviewed...
