Great build quality, Good display contrast, Unrivaled performance, Not as expensive as the Acer Predator 21 X

Using the Origin EON17-SLX to its fullest potential and barely running into performance hiccups is a liberating experience. Being able to just play games at their maximum settings willy-nilly takes huge a load off your mind and makes every experience easi
Of course, all that power comes at a cost for the Origin EON17-SLX. Carrying around a 10.5-pound system weighs on you heavily, especially when you'd have to constantly run from outlet to outlet just to keep it on while traveling
While I love this system for all the power and style it has, I also can't get past its limited battery life. This is also a prohibitively expensive system, well out of the budgets of most gamers who, at this point, are likely thinking of getting a gaming...

What's that, you wanted desktop power in a gaming laptop? Well, you finally have it with this 17-inch monster. But it comes at the cost of portability and a hefty chunk of your paycheck...
This is a laptop stuffed with desktop parts, including an overclocked processor and the type of desktop graphics card VR systems such as Oculus Rift require. It's highly configurable, and very powerful
The generic body is clunky and ugly, especially considering the price. A VR-ready configuration costs a lot. The keyboard, touchpad and display are all merely OK
The Origin PC Eon17-SLX is very expensive, and none too pretty, but also one of the only gaming laptops with the specialized components needed for VR hardware such as the Oculus Rift...
Excellent 1080p G-Sync display, Great speakers, Desktop-class processor and GPU, Excellent solid state drive selection
Generic chassis, Poor battery life, More expensive than similar competition
Performance over practicality Earlier this year Origin stopped using off-the-shelf enclosures for its desktops and opted for a custom solution. The results have been excellent. The company's desktops are among the most cohesive available and provide out...
Laptop-leading performance, Dual GTX 1080 graphics capable of 60fps 4K gaming, Unlocked desktop processor, Myriad port options, A ton of storage space
Super expensive, Enormous size, 15 pounds with its two power bricks, Very short battery life
The hefty Origin EON17-SLX delivers unparalleled performance for a gaming laptop thanks to SLI graphics and top-end features like a 4K G-Sync display. Just know you'll have to pay big for it...

Desktop CPU, desktop GPU, desktop performance, Semi-upgradable, if you're interested
Massive, Underwhelming screen, considering the price
The EON17-SLX is the most desktop-y laptop to ever come through PCWorld. Sure, you can build an actual desktop for cheaper—my colleague Gordon Ung dove into that math when he reviewed MSI's similarly stacked GT72S. But that shouldn't take away from Or...
